Washington Hospital
Investing in the health of the community

How advertising gave a hospital back it's future.

To avoid closure, Washington Hospital was ordered to carry out extensive seismic upgrades and expand its capacity to provide life-saving services.

To help achieve that end, we were tasked with persuading the residents of Alameda County to approve a $190 million bond measure. Getting the 2/3 super majority vote was, however, a seemingly impossible task, because 43% of the electorate were obliged by their insurance provider to seek non-emergency care from a Kaiser hospital.

Our campaign featuring local residents made Washington Hospital famous for being owned by and open to everyone in the community.

  • 70.4% voted "yes" on Measure FF.

  • A 223,000 sqft Critical Care Pavilion and Advanced ER, ICU and Coronary Care Unit was completed in 2018.

  • Today, Washington Hospital is consistently recognized as being one of the 100 best hospitals in America.
